Donnella’s unique background for a fashionista, began over 15 years ago when she moved to the New York / New Jersey area. Donnella as an account development manager in the digital publishing industry for a top international dutch company working with Fortune 500 companies like Exxon Mobile, Estee Lauder and Bristol Myers Squibb, government agencies like the FDA and the US Patent Office, and top universities like New York University and Columbia cultivating her skills in negotiations, account management, sponsorships, and events. Her corporate background including traveling to Europe, across North America and even a trip to Sao Paolo Brazil to meet clients and represent her company. Not only did she have a successful account management role, but she was also a corporate trainer creating manuals, developing global training seminars,presentations, and webinars for clients in Asia, Australia, as well as her colleagues. Although Donnella relished the opportunity and enjoyed traveling she also loved shopping and finding out of the way regional boutiques, stores and meeting designers through her travels. She then decided to use her saving to enter retail and began www.shopdonnella.com an online retail shopping site for accessories. Her goal was to bring back hard to find items to her friends and family, that eventually became a fun and profitable shopping site for trends. She decided to go further and received fashion certifications from New York at the Fashion Institute of Technology in event planning, retail management, starting and accessories line and fashion production. She eventually coached and consulted young designers that wanted to start their own business after taking successfully completing a business venture certification from New Jersey Institute of Technology. Donnella’s goal was to understand the business of running a successful business for any type of fashion venture to make herself stand out. She eventually joined Fashion Group International and also attends Mercedes Benz Fashion Week each season, covering the fashion trends for CBS Detroit and NJ News 12 as a freelancer.
Donnella also has built a solid relationship with various media outlets which helps garner respected media attention for New Jersey Fashion Week. Donnella decided after working with various designers, attending trunk shows and fashion events, that New Jersey a state with a high revenue and great venues, needed its only fashion week – however not only offering media, retailers and press the opportunity to see shows but consumers allowing designers that participate to make sales rather than compete and struggle to create buzz around their own fashion show as a incredible cost. The Style Network even approached Donnella and made her first annual New Jersey Fashion Week the season finale of Jerseylicious – which gave the show the highest rating ever. Now New Jersey Fashion Week going into its third year, is becoming a respected fashion week for talent and even brands like Coca Cola that work with her regularly.
